Escaping Violence, Building a New Life

In 2014 we met a single mother of three who was hospitalised with facial injuries. She had been assaulted by the father of her children. When we first got the referral, the mother was shaky and apprehensive. She was deeply depressed; her husband had intimidated her, telling her she was weak and unable to do anything on her own.

We started working with the family, helping the kids into childcare where they could build social skills and have time away from stressful home life. We connected them with counsellors and psychologists to allow the mother to grow her confidence.

Now she is motivated to study childcare, and improve her language skills at TAFE.

Now she is motivated to study childcare, and improve her language skills at TAFE. She wants to move forward and provide a safe environment for her and her children. The family have made an application to public housing and we wish a safe and happy future for the mother and her kids.
